Dr. Wei Rao is a Professor of Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science (TIPC, CAS). She obtained her bachelor and Master’s degrees (Both major in Thermal and Power Engineering) in Harbin Institute of Technology in 2003 and 2006, respectively. And she received her Ph.D. degree in Cryogenic Engineering from TIPC, CAS in 2009. She then served as an assistant professor there, a research scientist in department of Medicinal Chemistry in Virginia Commonwealth University and a postdoctoral researcher in department of Biomedical Engineering at The Ohio State University. Since 2016, she has been a professor of TIPC, CAS.
Dr. Rao’s research is intensively interdisciplinary including bioheat transfer, micro/nano biomaterials and cryomedicine. She is dedicated to introducing frontier micro/nano technology into cryomedicine area to achieve precise controllability on tumor cryoablation and cell/organ cryopreservation. She has published more than 30 papers in peer reviewed journal such as ACS Nano, Biomaterials, Advanced Materials and Advanced Functional Materials. Apart from that, she participated in writing of book entitled “advanced low-cost medical technology” as one of the leading author. In addition, she has contributed two invited book chapters in English. Her researches were reported by well-known international media such as sciencedaily, Phys.org, world scientific.
